Rosy's Jazz Hall

About Us

A Legend is Born . . .

Rosy's Jazz Hall is the historic New Orleans Wedding Venue that was once a legendary music club. The property at 500 Valence at Tchopitoulas was originally built in 1855. In its past, the building had been a residence, a neighborhood bar, and a grocery store. The most notable time in the building's rich history was in the late 1970's when 17 year-old heiress Rosy Wilson bought and renovated the property where she created the legendary New Orleans jazz club bearing her name. For the next three years, Rosy's was host to the top names in jazz and popular music, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, and many more. In the early 1990's, it was briefly reopened as a sports bar, and had remained empty and unused until the building was purchased in 1998. Following another full renovation, Rosy's Jazz Hall Events and Catering opened in 1999 and has since become a popular location for Legendary New Orleans wedding receptions and ceremonies.

Rosy's Jazz Hall features an old New Orleans ambiance with hardwood floors, brick walls, and an outdoor patio. An indoor French Quarter style balcony overlooks our two-story atrium, where beautiful ceremonies are held under the canopy of two ficus trees. Our events are fully catered in house. With award-winning menus featuring everything from Modern-day fare to traditional New Orleans classics to Old World Cuisine, there is something for your wedding guests’ every taste. We use top-quality ingredients all creatively and attractively displayed by our staff of in-house chefs. China, glass, and silver are always used on the buffets. Wrought-iron candlesticks and other signature decor items further enhance the buffets. Our all-inclusive packages include an open call-brand bar, hot and cold hors d’ouervres both passed and stationed, as well as all tables, chairs, and white linens.

Let us help you create your own legendary wedding at Rosy's Jazz Hall!

Meet the Staff

Steve Zweibaum, Owner

Steve Zweibaum, owner of Rosy's Jazz Hall

Steve came to New Orleans in 1988. With his love of food and music, he fell right into step with the Spirit of New Orleans and has never looked back!

After graduating from the Culinary program at SUNY Cobleskill and owning and operating his own artisan bakery for 4 years in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachussetts, Steve spent 14 years with Hyatt Hotels working his way through the ranks of the Pastry Department. It was Hyatt that brought Steve to New Orleans in 1988 to take over as Executive Pastry Chef for the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Through his years with Hyatt, Steve has worked with Chefs and mentors such as Alfred Kever, Helmut Leuek, Lee Conway, and Jim Schaeffer - to all of whom he owes a debt of gratitude!

Steve earned several honors and awards as Pastry Chef including a "Best In Show" award at the 1990 American Culinary Federation Food Show for his Sugar and Chocolate sculpting and dessert displays. His Chocoholics Bar at the Top of the Dome Restaurant was a popular Hyatt New Orleans feature for many years.

In 1999, Steve's partners and longtime friends, Phil Wagner and Russ Walker purchased the historic building at Tchopitoulas and Valence. They restored and renovated the old New Orleans building that had been vacant for 7 years while respectfully maintaining its charming historic integrity. After discussing the idea of turning Rosy's into a premiere event space with in-house catering and management, a new partnership was formed with Steve at the helm as Chef and General Manager of the  brand new Rosy's Jazz Hall Events and Catering. After spending the first 5 years in the kitchen, Steve currently oversees all in-house catering and event logistics with a sharp focus and strong emphasis on client satisfaction to ensure that each event is truly "Legendary."
